Matthew 6:25–34
“Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.” Matthew 6:8
Have you ever found yourself thinking about applying for a new job, moving to a different place, or stepping into an entirely new season of life? At first, the idea may feel exciting, full of possibility and hope. But soon after, questions begin to surface. Will this work out? Am I making the right decision? What if I fail? What if I don’t have enough? Change has a way of exposing our fears and reminding us how much we like certainty.
In Matthew 6:25–34, Jesus speaks directly to these very concerns. He tells us not to worry about our lives, about what we will eat, drink, or wear, not because those things don’t matter, but because God already knows we need them. Jesus points to the birds, who don’t store away food yet are fed daily, and to the flowers, which are clothed in beauty without striving. These examples are not meant to minimize our responsibilities, but to highlight God’s faithful provision.
When you stand at a crossroads, considering a new job, a move, or a new journey, God is not asking you to have every detail figured out. He is asking you to trust Him with today. Worry pulls our minds into the future, trying to solve problems that haven’t happened yet. But Jesus reminds us that worry cannot add a single hour to our lives. Instead, it drains the strength we need for the present moment.
Taking life one step at a time is an act of faith. It means praying before panicking, listening before rushing, and obeying even when the path ahead feels unclear. God doesn’t always reveal the full plan at once, but He promises daily provision, daily guidance, and daily grace.
When Jesus tells us to “seek first the kingdom of God,” He’s inviting us to put our trust where it belongs. When God is first, fear loses its grip, and peace takes its place. The same God who holds tomorrow is already walking ahead of you, preparing what you will need when you get there.
So today, release the pressure to control outcomes. If God is leading you toward change, trust that He will sustain you through it. Take the next right step, rest in His promises, and leave tomorrow in His capable hands.
Prayer:
Father God, You see the changes I’m considering and the uncertainty I feel. Help me to trust You fully, one step at a time. Quiet my worries and strengthen my faith as I seek You first. I place my future in Your hands. Amen.
Reflection:
What specific worry about the future is God asking you to surrender today, and what does trusting Him look like in your next step?
